My Vision
I understand the value of classical tradition and the importance of the modern music industry. Each student's desire to have a relationship with music needs to be encouraged with the methods and resources that will optimise their motivation.
My Experience
Teaching with a broad demographic of students has taught me the significance of musical diversity. I would never ask a student to play a piece of music, or study something they have no interest in, but instead, take the most important theoretical concepts from a work of their choice and explain these in a comprehensive way. As an ABRSM Grade 8 Pianist and Singer, I am also qualified to teach the classical and exam based progression.
Where Do I Teach From?
Both online and in person (Bristol and Bath) lessons are possible
George is teaching both my kids and each has a completely different way of thinking. He's got a range of teaching methods and quickly knew which to use with each of the boys, and both have responded incredibly well. His methods are a world away from the boring lessons and dreaded nursery rhymes. They are engaged, not only with the learning, but by George as a pianist, and both really look forward to their time with him. Highly recommended!
Being completely new to the piano, I was quite apprehensive of how to start. When I started with George, he was able to manipulate the piano into ways I understood. Chords were broken down into more mathematical elements, which really suited my way of learning. George is really patient and makes you feel great when you start putting things together. I’m really happy with my progress and could not recommend him more.
I have always been inspired by the piano, but felt like it would be an impossible mountain to climb. After only a few sessions with George, I understand the concepts that I need in order to progress. He accepts that all students will have a different learning style and goals and he took mine into consideration from the offset. I have learnt important and transferable ideas from the start of our first session (with my favourite song!) and I can't wait to progress further.
